THE 40th ANNIVERSARY OF THE
UECHI-RYU OKINAWA KARATE-DO SYSTEM IN SERBIA
The year 2013 marked the four decades of THE UECHI-RYU OKINAWA KARATE-DO SYSTEM IN SERBIA. On this occasion, OKIKUKAI SERBIA HOMBU, which continues the original UECHI-RYU tradition, was organized the celebration of this anniversary, with help and assistance of the Belgrade's Municipality Zvezdara.

The celebration took place in crowded hall of THE THEATRE "VUK" on THE STAGE "CULT" in Sunday 10th November 2013. More than 300 spectators and guests attended this event. Among those present was the master of Kendo, the Japanese instructor Mr. Kashiwagi Mikio, Kyoshi 7th Dan (photo down-right).
Especially for this event from abroad was came UECHI-RYU representatives from:

Mr. Grigoris Michail (OKIKUKAI HELLAS HOMBU DOJO - VOLOS), with ten of his students, among them Tzounis Antonis and Kostas Avanotopulos;

Before the beginning of the celebration, representatives of the OKIKUKAI SERBIA HOMBU and guests from abroad was on the reception of representative of the Municipality Zvezdara Mr. Zoran Kovac who was opened event.

After opening of the celebration on behalf the OKIKUKAI SERBIA HOMBU, President Vladimir Popovic was announced the honors and awards:

THE SPECIAL RECOGNITION was announced to:
Mr. TOPOLSEK MARIO, WHO FIRST INITIATED THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE UECHI-RYU OKINAWA KARATE-DO SYSTEM IN SERBIA IN 1973 FOR HIS DECADES-LONG EFFORT, and
Okinawan masters: Mr. TAKAMIYAGI SHIGERU, Mr. HIGA TOSHIO and Mr. YAMASHIRO HIROKUNI FOR THEIRS GENEROUS SUPPORT IN DEVELOPMENT OF THE UECHI-RYU OKINAWA KARATE-DO SYSTEM IN SERBIA.
UECHI-RYU KARATE-DO demonstration (ENBUKAI) was a major part of the celebration.

At the end of the program, were awarded honors to instructors and assistants for their efforts and dedication of development and promotion of the UECHI-RYU in their communities in recent period. The awards are handed to:

After completing the Enbukai program, participants, guests and spectators had the opportunity for associating at a cocktail party, which was held in the lobby of THE "CULT" STAGE.

For visitors from abroad was organized an Intensive Training Program in period from 7th to 9th November, prior to the event. Trainings were held in the OKIKUKAI SERBIA HOMBU DOJO of Vladimir Popovic and SANCHIN DOJO of Milan Dimitrieski.
